the bar council

ui/ux design, user research

The Bar Council is an organization based in London that promotes role of barristers at the heart of the justice system in England and Wales. This includes ensuring fair representation of barristers, providing them increased job opportunities as well making the processes involved with a barrister more transparent to the public.

The Bar Council were looking to create an user friendly site that was distinct and aligned with their brand guidelines, but also gave said guidelines a refresh. Their old site was very content heavy with long secondary navigation, and they wanted to make it accessible. The Bar Council also wanted to debut their new inclusive imagery.

I carried out remote usability testing on the site with several users. I wrote usability testing questions, which can be found here, and conducted the interviews; where we tested our Invision prototypes and logged the answers. These interviews proved useful for refining our layout to suit the Bar Council’s intended users, which varied wildly.
