cultural fabrication

academic research / print / (info)graphic design

Cultural Fabrication is an academic paper written in my final year undertaking the Bachelor of Design program at Goldsmiths. It examines how minority cultures of Asia- most specifically China are fabricated and reproduced in the West.

The use of language, colour and ‘authenticity’ as motifs in creating artificial culture are examined using a mix of primary and secondary research.

These motifs are then contextualized through various comparisons that can be found between Asian and Western culture, especially London’s Chinatown.
